Featured Creation by SilverMist Lark

Hi, everyone!  Thank you for stopping by today for a crafter feature (I haven't written one of these up in a while...  ^^;  Have fallen behind.).  Today, I have a gorgeous large coloring from SilverMist Lark, who submitted this beautiful piece to the submissions album at Stamps by AuroraWings FB group.

Her coloring is executed on an A4 size (8.27 x 11.69 inches) for framing.  This image is packed with details from her ornate hair-do with lots of accessories to patterns on the kimono, all the way to the spider lily flowers in the foreground.  I love the light versions of orange, green, and purple with white on this.  Very fresh!

The version of the digi she used here is what I refer to as the 'without skull' version of Along Came a Spider.  The original illustration has the Japanese oiran (pricey courtesan - and that is why her obi is tied in front) holding a skull as she is the deadly spider demon known as Joro Gumo (basically a man-eating giant spider, which in daylight hours can disguise in human form).  This non-horror version has plenty of charm of its own for those of you who do not like dark imagery.

Shown above is the no-skull version.  Available here.  It's 6" x 7" or 15.2 x 17.8 cm.

The above is the original version with the human skull peeking.  In Japanese folklore, red spider lilies are strongly associated with death and the underworld.  They are often seen blooming around the time of the o-Bon festival of the ancestral spirits, and along the river banks, which further suggests their connection to the spirit world.  The original darker version can be found here.

I'd like to point out a few specials currently offered at the Aurora Wings Etsy shop.

"Christmas in July" is a special promo, which offers you a chance at a $50 USD shopping spree.  All purchases during the month of June and up to July 26 will be automatically entered into a random drawing.  Leave reviews on your purchases for additional entries into the drawing.

Also, don't forget I have select kitty digis on sale at 30% off regular price at AW Etsy, too.

The ad only shows 5 of the 10 kitty digis that are on sale for the limited time.  Follow this link to check out all the sale digis in my shop.

You'll also find select Sprite digis at 50% off until the end of our current "Sprite Delight II" challenge going on at the AW Challenge Blog.

Our monthly contest at Stamps by AuroraWings Facebook group is "My Favorite Season".  You can create pretty much anything you want for this one, really.  Spring theme with flowers, Christmas theme goes well for winter, Halloween for fall, mermaids for summer, etc.  These are just some of the ideas.  You could also color the same image four times in different season-inspired color palette for a unique creation. :D

There's lots of time to join this contest.  Deadline is the end of the month.  ^_^
